How do you recognize the house?
Als je aan komt rijden met de (huur)auto vanaf de D103 (Vanuit Agen of Penne d’Agenais) en afslaat naar de C50 richting Auradou zie je bordjes met de buurtschappen aan de linkerkant van de weg. De derde weg naar links is naar buurtschap Palanchou, het huis staat aan de Chemin de Palanchou 257. Je slaat dan (zie de afbeelding) af bij het witte rondje en rijdt door naar boven. Ons huis heeft lampjes in de voortuin hangen, parkeer de auto onder de bomen bij het huis. Als je verder rijdt beland je bij onze buren.
Plane
Rotterdam airport offers regular Transavia to Bergeracflights. You will arrive at a small neatly arranged airport with several car rental companies. We used National or Alamoat Easyterra. The trip to Auradou takes less than an hour.
KLM and EasyJet offer flights to Bordeaux from Amsterdam and KLM to Toulouse.
We occasionally flew to Bergerac and used Bordeaux on our return, the surplus amount to leave a rental car at a different location was only €24,17 (excl VAT).
Car
Met de auto vanaf Utrecht is het 10,5 uur rijden. Wil je onderweg overnachten dan raden we je Vierzon (Ibis Styles Vierzon), Orleans of Senlis (prachtig stadje) aan. Of je kunt via Parijs reizen en daar een citybreak doen.
Travelling to the southwest of France by electric car
Environmental travelling to the southwest of Fance is also possible using an electric car. Check the availability (booster) charger using the ANWB routeplanner for electric cars .
Rijd je een Tesla, dan kun je snelladen (20/30 minuten per keer) bijvoorbeeld in Lile, Senlis, Orleans en Brive-la-Gaillarde of Limoges (hier zit de charger bij een erg mooie speeltuin voor de kinderen) op de route naar Auradou. Je doet er uiteraard wat langer over, ongeveer 12 uur in totaal. We do not have a charger at our holiday home but you can connect to the power grid. There are charging stations in Penne d'Agenais.
Train
Another environmental friendly option to travel to the southwest of France is by train. The Thalys offers ten daily services from Amsterdam, via Schiphol and Rotterdam to Paris. You arrive at Gare du Nord. A one hour trip by underground (metro) brings you to Gare Montparnasse where the TGV to Bordeaux Saint-Jean leaves. Buy your ticket in the Thalys train. In Bordeaux Saint-Jean you can rent a car (also electric) at Sixt. Another two hours by car brings you to Auradou. At less than 10 minutes from our house you will find charging stations in Penne d'Agenais or Villeneuve-sur-Lot.
From Bordeaux you may extend your TGV journey to Gare d'Agen, where you can also rent a (not electric) car. From here it is less than thirty minutes to our house.
The delicious and renowned Agen prunes originate from Lot-et-Garonne. The house also has a centuries old oven in which the prunes used to be dried for 24 hours.
